Who we are
AOL Seva is this website, www.aolseva.com, and its apps for iPhone and Android. It helps Art of Living teachers keep track of their courses and the people who take them, and helps participants find courses, follow-ups, daily practice and teachers. It is run by TeacherOn.com, India, independently of the Art of Living.
What we keep about you
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- Your date of birth and gender, if you or your teacher gave them.
- Where you live or work — an address, city or area — if you or your teacher gave it.
- The courses you have registered for or taken: dates, attendance, and the amount paid when the course list included it.
- Feedback you give after a course.
- Notes a teacher writes on your record, and the outcome of their calls to you.
- The teachers and follow-ups you follow, your sharing settings, and your notification choices.
- Messages you send us through Get help, and any files you attach.
- If you use the app with notifications on: a token that lets us send notifications to your phone, and the phone's name, so you can tell your devices apart.
- For teachers: the details on your public teacher profile, and a photo of yourself if you upload one.
We do not ask for, and do not keep, health, religious or financial account details.
Where it comes from
- From you, when you sign in, join a course, fill in a form or change your settings.
- From your teachers. When you register for or attend a course, your teacher may add you from their course list. So we may hold a record about you before you first sign in — when you do, you can see it.
- From Google or Apple, if you sign in with them: an account number, your name and your email address. If Apple hides your email address, we do not keep the forwarding address it gives us; we ask for yours instead, or you can choose not to give one.
Who can see it
- The teachers who taught you or hold your record, and volunteers they have asked to help with it. They use it to keep in touch about courses and follow-ups.
- You choose whether those teachers see your phone and email, for all of them or for one teacher at a time, in your Account.
- When you follow a teacher, they see your name, and your phone and email unless you turn that off in the same place.
- A teacher's public profile — name, photo if they added one, area, courses and languages — can be seen by anyone. It shows no phone number or email address. Teachers can make theirs private.
- The few people who run the site, to keep it working and answer requests for help.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anybody to market to you. The site has no advertising and no tracking or analytics services.
Services that handle it for us
These companies store or carry information only to provide their service to us. Our hosting, database, email and file storage are in Mumbai, India.
- Vercel — runs the website.
- Supabase — the database.
- Amazon Web Services — sends our emails, and stores files attached to messages and teachers' photos.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — checks that a sign-in or a message comes from a person; it sees your IP address and browser.
- Google Maps — when you look up a place, what you type is sent to Google to find it.
- Google Firebase — delivers notifications to the app.
- Google and Apple — if you choose to sign in with them.
Cookies and records of visits
We use only the cookies the site needs to work:
- one that keeps you signed in;
- short-lived ones while you sign in with Google or Apple;
- one that opens a follow-up from a link in an email, for seven days;
- your time zone, so times are shown in yours, and whether the menu is open.
When you ask for a sign-in code we record your IP address and browser, to stop the form being misused; these records are deleted about a month later. When a page fails or is slow, we record which page and which browser, without anything that identifies you.
How long we keep it
Your record is kept while you or your teachers use it, so your courses are there when you come back. If you delete your account, the record stays with your teachers, as above, without your contact details. Some things are removed on their own: sign-in codes and their records after about a month, records of refused access after 90 days, and follow-up notices after 90 days.
Your choices
- See and correct your details, and choose who sees your phone and email, in your Account.
- Unfollow a teacher or follow-up at any time.
- Choose which notifications you get, by email and in the app, in Notification settings. Sign-in codes always come by email.
- Delete your account, at the bottom of the Account page — how, and what happens. You are signed out for good, and what you set up yourself is removed: your sign-in addresses, notification choices, follows, the phones you get notifications on, and your photo if you are a teacher. Your teachers keep their records of the courses you came to, because those are their course records, but nobody can see your phone number or email address on them.
- Ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct it, through Get help.
A parent or guardian can manage a child's record from their own account, and can ask us about it in the same way.
Changes and questions
If we change what we keep or who sees it, we will update this page and the date at the top. For any question about your information, write to us through Get help.
